Star Wars the Old Republic has plans for a total of eight available playable races. All the eight races are derived from the movie. Besides these eight playable SWTOR races, there are a great number of other races that would be found throughout the galaxy as either companion or NPCs. Here’s an overview of all the SWTOR races. Check out the SWTOR Classes category for a more in-dept description for each one of the playable classes.

Playable SWTOR Races:

SWTOR Chiss

The Chiss appears very human except for their blue skin. This SWTOR race comes from Csilla, a planet from far away. The Chiss forms strong allies with the Sith Empire. This class is available to the Imperial Agents and the Bounty Hunters.

SWTOR Human

Humans are the dominant race in SWTOR. Quite ironically, humans do not have an originating planet. Many believe the humans come from Coruscant but this has never been confirmed. Humans are found throughout the galaxy. For gamers who couldn’t care less which race to play, the human race is recommended given that it is available to all the eight SWTOR classes.

SWTOR Miraluka

This race is available to the Jedi Knight and Jedi Consular classes. The SWTOR Miraluka is a race that is born without eyes. This is because their world, Alpheridies is almost light-less besides the minimal light from the red dwarf star. The Miraluka are thus very sensitive the the force and has the ability to use the force for seeing.

SWTOR Mirialan

The SWTOR Mirialan could be played as a Jedi Consular or Trooper. They come from the planet of Mirial and look very human-like besides their green skin. This is a very fast and agile race.

SWTOR Rattataki

Yet another Sith Empire race, the SWTOR Rattataki is available to the Bounty Hunters, Imperial Agents and Sith Inquisitors. The Rattataki are skilled fighters and fierce combatants.

SWTOR Sith Pureblood

Anyone who want to play a Sith Pureblood should take care given that the race is available only to the Sith Warrior. These red skinned Siths are born warriors of the dark side. Their capabilities with the force and combat skills make them a force not to be reckoned with.

SWTOR Twi’lek

The SWTOR Twi’lek uniqueness are in their head-tails. Skin-wise, the Twi’lek race can appear in multiple colors. Twi’lek females are often depicted as slaves or dancers and considered very beautiful. The playable-classes for the Twi-lek are the Jedi Consular, Smuggler and the Sith Inquisitor.

SWTOR Zabrak

The SWTOR Zabrak are also commonly referred to as the Iridonians who come from the palnet Iridonia. This race is available to the Trooper, Jedi Knight and the Sith Inquisitor. The Zabraks are marked by their horns and tattoos.
