Here’s an introductory guide to SWTOR Companions, for more in-dept information and gaming insights, check out this SWTOR Guide.

Every hero comes with a side-kick. The same goes for Star Wars. If you’re familiar with the movie, especially the older series such as ‘Return of the Jedi’ and the ‘Empire Strikes Back’, you’ll notice that Han frequently appears with Chewie while Luke had R2-D2 with him during his training. In Star Wars the Old Republic (SWTOR), the concept of companion prevails. In the game, companions are there to support and enhance the character gamers choose to play.

Companions themselves will have character and ideals in SWTOR, making the game very close to reality. For instance, some companion characters would join your cause just like that, while others are in it for the benefits or for a bit of adventure. The wide variety of available companions also makes it much more interesting and lively. From highly intelligent AIs, weird looking aliens, an SWTOR companion can go as far as being a beautiful princess.

Your interaction with your SWTOR companion also effects how the storyline develops. For example, your companion might point out destinations of interest. Which you choose to travel to and why will run its course in your character’s story. The catch with companions is that some may develop from just being friends into enemies or even your significant other.

In SWTOR, one character can have more than one companion. These companions are what

makes your character more powerful and unique. If you enjoy fiddling around with gears and equipping up your character, then good news! Companions can be equipped with a wide range of gear as well. You, along with your companions are viewed as a team. As your team grows, the game features new options as well as new team strategies given the more attributes, skills and characters to support each other. When doing certain quests, you’ll have a choice of which SWTOR companion to bring along. The same goes for everything else you do in the vast SWTOR universe.

Some of the known Star Wars the Old Republic companions are the Bowdaar, Tanno Vik, T7-O1, Mako, Kaliyo Djannis, Vette and Khem Val.

SWTOR Launch Worldwide?

August 10th, 2011 by admin

As some of you might have already known, and unluckily for some countries, Star Wars: The Old Republic will not be launching worldwide this year, but BioWare has revealed some news that should thrill some gamers outside of the launch territories.

“SWTOR WILL BE REGION-FREE”

swtor release date

BioWare new MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic still has not set a release date yet but has been revealed and confirmed that the title will not be launched at the same time in all countries. BioWare has also set a no IP or Region lock for players outside of the launch territories meaning those who want to import the MMO Swtor game can do so without worrying that the game will be unplayable. Though gameplay experience may vary due to latency issues.

Community Manager Stephen Reid also explained that the decision to launch the title at different times may sound somewhat unfair to gamers but everything has been done with good reasoning.

“BioWare and LucasArts are completely focused on building an exceptional game and an exceptional game service to go with it. Unfortunately, to achieve the goal of an exceptional game service certain territories could not be serviced at launch. This decision was undertaken with a quality player experience as the primary goal.”

LucasArts

SWTOR is the newest installment from LucasArts, founded by the famous George Lucas. The company was established since 1982 as George wanted to branch out to other types of media rather than just movies and novels. Most gamers should be familiar with the latest title by LucasArts, Star Wars The Force Unleashed II which is known for its compelling story and engaging combat system.

SWTOR LucasArts is scheduled to be released around September 2011. However, latest news has cited that LucasArts and Electronics Arts would like to push back the games release until the first quarter of 2012. Planning to set a new trend for MMORPG genre, LucasArts adds lots of new features and game mechanics to have a game which players will feel more interacted with the game as their actions will have an effect on the storyline and NPCs’ reaction. The classes are also not limited to the traditional type with healer, tank, DPS and such. Players can customize their role on the fly which will change the nature of the game for good. No more playing a class that you don’t like just to fill up the missing role in the group. This is something SWTOR LucasArts is trying to bring to the market.
